Hart Williams: The Secret Life of Howie Rich and Ed Crane

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, September 29, 2006 4 pm PDT

This Week's Show
Our Guest: Hart Williams

Hart Williams was annoyed over the ballot propositions that were turning his community upside down. He decided to find out who was behind the steady stream of initiatives that as far as he could see had no local support. He found out and now you can ask him about Howie Rich, the Pig, and the Astroturf Initiatives that are changing the face of America.

Hart Williams grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attended Texas Christian University and moved to Hollywood, California in 1976.

Mr. Williams has been a professional writer since 1976, published since 1973. He has written for newpapers and magazines from the Washington POST to the Los Angeles TIMES and FREE PRESS, The Kansas City STAR, Portland OREGONIAN, NEW WEST, OUI, Los Angeles Magazine, the Santa Fe SUN, and more. A published novelist and screenwriter, he lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife -- a science fiction author in her own right -- her centenarian father and their Manx cat.

Host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster commented about the revelations on Rich and Crane, “Howie Rich has been carrying the water for Ed Crane for over a generation. Some things won't change until Howie is planted next to Ayn Rand in Valhalla.”

What the Show is about and being a Spiritual Politician

Bringing government into alignment with the Lessons of Jesus:

The focus of our show is how to bring government into alignment with truth of our spiritual nature. So America started with the idea we are all, inherently free. We are free to choose, free to live, to breath, and to live our lives as we see fit. Government does not own us; government is just a contractor, providing service.

That framework is in alignment with the spiritual truth that each of us connects to God directly, needing no agency as an intermediary. To be free is to be free in the spirit ans so in the flesh that temporarily holds the spirit.

When Thomas Jefferson said we were all possessed of inherent rights, existing before government he was extending a spiritual truth into a civic form. It is that Mission Statement from the Declaration of Independence we need to keep in mind.

Because we are free and reject, as did Christ, the use of deceit, manipulation or violence we need to be conscious about our relationships with others and find ways to grow into the sense of connection and community that makes us One in Him.

This is especially true for Christians but it is true for everyone else as well.

Nearly every major spiritual viewpoint enunciates the idea that we are connected to each other and should be good to each other. Christians just have an even more exacting mission. Christians are to love every one, treating them as they would Jesus.

Jesus was very clear about how we were to treat others. He did not say that it was alright to be abusive, deceitful, and violent if we used government as our tool and agent. There was no exception, He wanted all of our hearts, minds and souls. Christ did not lay out any plan of government, but left it to the conscience of the individual, the same way He connects to each of us.

We are Americans but we are also members of a human family that connects us to something truly wonderful and immense.

So our job here at the Spiritual Politician is to look at Government as a human tool we use every day. We need to consider if government is working in a way that speaks that common understanding about our connections to each other and, if it is not, we need to change it.

Americans have had many successes over the last 231 years since our founding and, learning from both mistakes and successes we can consider that question. So here at the Spiritual Politician we look at the truth behind of rhetoric.

Given what is going on today in Government what we may decide to do it reboot the whole system.

To provide the examples of what has gone right and what has gone very wrong we here at the Spiritual Politician have put together several different kinds of segments you will hear on our show from time to time.

G. Edward Griffin: The FED - This time we take it out

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, September 22, 2006 4 pm PDT

This Week's Show
Our Guest: G. Edward Griffin

Last week our guest and Don, our show engineer, failed to connect. It was in the technology. We are not quite paranoid enough to think it was a conspiracy. So, failing a guest I filled in by reading the introduction and part of the first chapter of my book, The Lessons of James Dean. I received lots of delighted comments from listeners, which encourages me to finish writing it.

The book tells the stories of Jimmy and what he taught me when he was being himself and I was being a very small girl. He used to visit us for lunch and conversation. His Mom and mine were friends who discovered they were distant cousins.

This week we will have some of the show we did not have last week but also an update on breaking events in HowieLand. In case you have missed it media attention, always slow and fuzzy, has begun focusing on the activities of Howie Rich, a Rich Libertarian from New York, and his friends who are the ones responsible for the rise in initiative action across the country. Curiously, these are aimed at destroying local infrastructure and also (could it be a coincidence) often result in amazing profits for large corporations.

See you this evening.

On the Spiritual Politician host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster and Mr. Griffin will discuss the life experiences that lead Griffin to found Freedom Force along with his experiences in producing such films as The Creature from Jekyll Island, World without Cancer, The Discovery of Noah’s Ark, Moles in High Places, The Open Gates of Troy, No Place to Hide, The Capitalist Conspiracy, More Deadly than War, The Grand Design, The Great Prison Break, and The Fearful Master .

As part of the agenda of Freedom Force International Griffin calls for the end of the Federal Reserve and the enactment of individual and global freedom for humanity.

Mr. Griffin is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he majored in speech and communications. In preparation for writing his book on the Federal Reserve System, he enrolled in the College for Financial Planning located in Denver, Colorado. His goal was not to become a professional financial planner but to better understand the real world of investments and money markets. He obtained his CFP designation (Certified Financial Planner) in 1989.

Mr. Griffin is a recipient of the coveted Telly Award for excellence in television production, the creator of the Reality Zone Audio Archives, and is President of American Media, a publishing and video production company in Southern California. He has served on the board of directors of The National Health Federation and The International Association of Cancer Victors and Friends. He is Founder and President of The Coalition for Visible Ballots, The Cancer Cure Foundation, and Freedom Force International.

Stephen Safranek: Fighting Federal Fascism for American Families

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, September 8, 2006 4 pm PDT

This Week's Show
Our Guest: Stephen Safranek

On the Spiritual Politician host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster and Stephen Safranek will talk about the hideous abuses that are endemic in America's system of family law and how simply returning to the original vision of American rights can change that and bring us into balance with our spiritual natures.

Stephen J. Safranek is a professor of law at the Ave Maria School of Law. He helped to found the law school and has been involved in many other civic projects. He previously taught at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and has taught a variety of classes to law students and lawyers.

He has numerous publications and has been involved in public interest litigation for over a decade. The TrueMarriage Project is an outgrowth of his interest in helping ensure the survival and growth of the institution most critical to society, the family.

Professor Safranek previously worked at one of the nation's largest and most prestigious law firms and clerked for Judge O'Scannlain on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and Illinois (inactive status) and has been admitted to practice before a variety of federal courts including the United States Supreme Court.

On the Spiritual Politician the question of how to bring politics and government into alignment with the relationship we are mandated by Christ to have with each other is always in order. How can the American electoral system fulfill the charge Christ left with us. That charge was then and remains today that we are one in Christ and are to treat each other as brothers and sisters, despite our differences.
