Melinda Pillsbury-Foster on John Fund

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, May 19, 2006 4pm PDT

This Week's Show
Our Guest: Gene Gaudette
Interviewing Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

At BBS Radio

For this week's show Gene Gaudette of American Politics Journal, is coming on to conduct an interview with our show's host. This unusual occurrence takes place so that the public can share in the recent revelations on that arch nemesis of Family Values and all that is Spiritually Correct, John Fund.

What strange habits did Fund, recently emerged from his long hiatus spent on his creative writing exercise titled, Stealing Elections, a how to guide, exhibit that all onlookers found disturbing while still in, and out, of college and still living in the family's home in Fair Oaks near Sacramento?

Sometimes the past does catch up with you. Sometimes you so disgust the people who once believed in you that they do the unthinkable. They tell the truth. And for John Fund that is the most frightening thought of all.

Chris Cooper - Playing Games with Money

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, May 12, 2006 4pm PDT

This Week's Show
Our Guest: Chris Cooper

Playing Games with Money will be the subject of this week's show. Chris Cooper, our guest, is a graduate of the University of London and has held jobs in Her Majesty's Office of Customs and Excise and then at Barkley's Bank. From there Cooper went entrepreneurial, trying out the pitfalls and rewards of commerce for himself until he discovered what he was meant to do all along, which is to demonstrate just how money works.

Chris Cooper now conducts a series of classes that allow the participants to try on the roles of the Federal Reserve so and all other financial institutions so that, when the series is over the participant understands how it all works. That can be something of a shock for the credulous and participants have said that the world looks very different to them then.

Join us to Play Games with Money and so understand what government and its cronies is doing to us!

What the Show is about and being a Spiritual Politician

Catch Melinda's Blog at: How the NeoCons Stole Freedom

Most people wonder about the title of our show because it seems like an oxymoron to link the words, 'spiritual' and 'politician.' We don't have to accept that. We can change politics.

Politics has turned into an enormous game, with teams we think of as political parties. But Republicans '10' Democrats '2' does not say much about who we are as people of faith and as Americans.

Politics today is all about winning so those in charge can grab the cash and clout. They have all lost track of two very important facts.

The first thing is who we really are.

We are all Americans. America started with the idea we are all, inherently free. We are free to choose, free to live, to breath, and to live our lives as we see fit. Government does not own us; government is just a contractor, providing services.

That is the first thing. The second thing is even more important to many of us.

Before we are Americans we are all members of a human family that connects us to something truly wonderful and immense.

To be a spiritual politician is to look for the ways you can bring out the best in our world using politics as a tool.

More about being a Spiritual Politician:

Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, nearly all people see themselves as connected to something ineffable; a presence that draws us into a relationship with each other that is not about winning but about community and doing the right thing.

So our job here at the Spiritual Politician is to look at Government as a human tool we use every day. We need to consider if government is working in a way that speaks that common understanding about our connections to each other and, if it is not, we need to consider what might work better.

Americans have had many successes over the last 231 years since our founding and, learning from both mistakes and successes we can consider that question.

Given what is going on today in Government what we may decide to do it reboot the whole system.

To provide the examples of what has gone right and what has gone very wrong we here at the Spiritual Politician have put together several different kinds of segments you will hear on our show from time to time.

Two Kinds of Segments:

The first kind is Tough Love.

On Tough Love Segments we will look at the behavior of people in and around government that is really, really bad. We use those examples as illustrations of how nasty behavior corrupts the very expensive tool of government, making all of our lives worse.

If those people in government can't handle the temptations then it is up to us to ensure we change the system so they are no longer tempted.

As we do not give children objects that endanger their safety so we should not allow the tools of government to become a danger to the moral fiber of those in government.

Our second segment will bring you heart warming stories of human innovation, accomplishments that were carried out by volunteers. There are other tools for accomplishing the jobs assigned to government and seeing what works gives us help us jump start innovation.

That is our Good Guys segment. The fact is, the best way to spread the good word is by seeing it happen and these stories will warm your heart while they also excite you to the possibilities for ensuring that all of us have the safety nets we want in and for our own families and communities.

Jerry Corbetta: The Music that frees the soul

With the Host of the Spiritual Politician
Melinda Pillsbury-Foster

Friday, April 28, 2006 4pm PST

This Week's Show
Our Guest: Jerry Corbetta

Jerry Corbetta, former lead singer, keyboardist and founder of the melodically and lyrically oriented "Green-Eyed Lady" group Sugarloaf, was our guest on the show to talk about his music and how it has molded his life. Jerry toured with his family until he was six, took a short hiatus to finish school and was touring again in the last two years of college. He has toured pretty much ever since and doubts that he will ever stop.

Our interview with Jerry went into his own attitudes about music, the spirit and how that connects him to what is happening today. He was on tour when we did the interview, coming at us from Biloxi. Mississippi.
